When starting a home office, you will need a few more accessories besides a computer. Finding an opportunity to work from is exciting. Not only do you not need to change out of your pajamas to work, but you can spend your breaks doing productive things like emptying the dishwasher and walking the pets. Once you have the job in place and a computer hooked up, you are only a few accessories away from having your home office ready for business. Make sure you are ready to go by following this checklist.
1.) High Speed Internet- If you’ve gotten by with dial-up so far, it would be wise to make the switch to cable internet. Connections through dial up are vulnerable to disconnect and this could have devastating consequences for work purposes. Make sure you have a cable or DSL connection ready to go before starting that new job.
2.) Make sure you have a working printer- It’s true that you can store most things online these days, but having paper compies of work filed away has it’s benefits. Let’s face it, computers break all the time and for a variety of different reasons. Your computer can be attacked by viruses or be damaged beyond repair in a move. Take as many precautions as possible to save your important files and data.
3.) Dedicate a phone line for a fax machine- It’s a simple fact of business that you will need to sign documents at one time or another. Having a dedicated fax line to send and receive faxes will allow you to do business at all hours of the day and night. Just make sure to keep the fax machine away from the bedroom or the noise from an incoming fax could stir you in the middle of the night.
A home office is exciting so stock up on supplies and start earning.
